We all know how much of a bore doing our hair is, I know I hate it with an actual passion but unfortunately, it has to be done. Personally, I've never really paid THAT much attention to my hair so when I was invited to get my hair styled by GHD, I thought I'd give it a crack. At the time, my hair was at the super awkward length after having a pixie cut and I'm still letting it grow out so I proved a tad bit of a challenge but oh my goodness, I didn't realise that GHDs were actually as good as everybody says they are. My hair went from crazy curly to super sleek without much effort at all and I was actually amazed. My hair has never been that straight without a lot of effort.

The GHD Serene Pearl Platinum Styler is the new set of hair stylers that GHD have released and it has some very special qualities including the all new tri-zone technology. This basically means that the heat from the sensors stays at a hair safe level that reduces hair breakage by over 50% and increasing shine by 20%. What I didn't know until my GHD hair appointment is that it's actually unsafe to style your hair at too low a temperature as well as too high, mind blown. The GHD Serene Pearl Platinum Styler basically stays at the perfect temperature so you don't have to worry about damaging your hair when you're styling it, which for me is always a worry.

All I can say is that I've found using the GHD Serene Pearl Platinum Styler like a dream at home and I can seriously straighten my hair in less than 15 minutes which is totally how I need it when I'm rushing to get to work!

At first, the highlighting trend genuinely scared the hell out of me. Let's face it, I could make myself look like so much of a tit and I had no clue where to even start. When I saw that Sleek were doing little palettes with actual instructions I was over the moon. The Sleek Midas Touch Highlighting Palette instantly attracted me because of the range of colours in it and I thought the rose pink colour was just really lovely. The longevity of the colours is great and I've been loving using this on a daily basis. I started off using the palette the way it told me, especially seeing as I was a little scared of it but now I am getting much more confident using highlight and I really love using Rhinestone (pink) on my cheeks instead of Solitaire (white) but I am really happy with this palette.

Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor: Review*

Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor* // Boots (£8.40)

Guys, it's razor season again and let's face it, we all want that smooth feeling in the summer months (wait, all the months! Nothing is better than that feeling of smooth legs on fresh sheets, am I right?) and Wilkinson Sword have come up with a really great razor for that feeling. I'm not usually one for this kind of review but I've been looking for a razor like this for a while. I HATE shaving, I really do but this razor has 5 curving blades and a water activated serum so not only does it get super close, but it puts moisture back into the skin. I have stupidly dry skin (everywhereeee) so I obviously have to moisturise like crazy but I have found that my skin is a lot better after shaving with this razor, and the fact that it gets super close is lovely because it gives me an extra day where I don't have to think about shaving again.

The moisturising serum is full of marine extracts and shea butter and I do love a bit of shea butter in my life. We all want convenience in our life, especially when it comes to the boring stuff and I'm one of those women that just finds this stuff to take up a little too much time so when I find something that gives me back some time, I love it. I'd definitely recommend the Hydro Silk Razor to anyone because it's definitely the best I've used in ages!

Are you a shaver, or a waxer?

How Dermaroller can improve the appearance of your skin*

Now, I've never heard of Dermaroller but when I was asked to publish this post, I did a little research and it seems everybody has an opinion on this treatment so I thought it might be a good little article to publish to see how it goes down with you guys as well. I think that the down points are much like having a tattoo, you always have a risk of infection but keeping the area clean and this minimises by A LOT and it's the same here. What do you think of this? Have a read below.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you tired of how your skin is starting to look as you get older? Most people have that frustration. It seems like one day you woke up and your skin was just different, right? Maybe it seems thinner, or maybe you have wrinkles that weren't there before. In any case, Dermaroller might be able to help you, but first you need to know why your skin looks the way it does.

Picture of how Dermaroller can Improve the appearance of your skin

How Skin Damage Occurs Over Time //
Skin damage happens for two main reasons. The first is that certain processes within the body are meant to slow down as we age. As teenagers and young adults our bodies produce more of substances like human growth hormone (HGH) and collagen. Both help to give out skin its smooth, supple appearance. But those levels naturally drop off as we get older.

The other reason for skin damage is environmental influences. That could include anything from chemicals in the daily products we use to smoking cigarettes, getting too much sun exposure, or eating an unhealthy diet. But whatever the reason or combination of reasons is, Dermaroller may be able to improve the appearance of your skin.

A Dermaroller Treatment Encourages Collagen Production //
Dermaroller also goes by the name “micro-needling,” and the reason is obvious. The tool used for the procedure is covered in needles. The needles are extremely small, but there are a lot of them covering the tool, which is designed to be rolled over the skin.

The Dermaroller process encourages collagen production in the body to increase because it causes minor damage to the skin. That damage causes the body to produce and release more healthy components in order to make repairs. Basically, it's a way to trick your body into fixing itself up a bit. Those repairs are especially good for your skin. If you have ever used aesthetic equipment to treat skin problems before, that process should sound familiar to you.

Where to Have the Micro-Needling Therapy //
There are many medical clinics and skincare spas that offer Dermaroller treatment. If you are interested in having it professionally done, you should look for a local clinic or spa that offers the service you want. Make sure that they have a good reputation. You may even be able to get a referral from your own doctor or dermatologist. They are likely to know the best treatment facilities in your local area.

Of course, you can also perform a Dermaroller treatment in your own home. The at-home kits vary in cost, with some being as inexpensive as $30. However, you should know that professional treatments tend to work better, produce faster results, and come with fewer risks.

Dermaroller Risks and Side Effects //
You might think that pain is the biggest side effect of Dermaroller, whether you have a professional or at-home treatment. However, topical anesthetic lotions or gels can be used to numb the area before the procedure starts. So, pain is not as much of an issue as you might think.

The biggest risk associated with Dermaroller is the risk of a skin infection. That risk can be minimized by keeping the area clean before, during, and after treatment. If you have a professional treatment, your technician may also give you a medicated lotion to apply to the area after you go home. Other minor side effects you could experience include temporary bleeding or oozing, as well as a little redness and swelling.

Like most skincare treatments, Dermaroller isn't right for everyone, and a single treatment may not totally fix the problem. So, you will need to weigh all of the risks against the potential results before you choose a final skin treatment plan.

The City Girls Event & Giveaway

Blogging events are one of the best parts of being in this community, especially when I get to spend some quality time with lots of lovely ladies that love the same things as I do. We all share something and when we're together, we natter like crazy. When I was invited to the The City Girls event in Manchester, I was over the moon because one) it looked amazing and 2) some lovely blogging ladies I've met before were going. Fantastic!

When we got to the event, we were met by the lovely Holly and Siobhan who told us how the day was going to run, who we were going to be chatting to and a general introduction. We were also given a little talk from a lovely lady from the Alzheimer's Society who told us the importance of the society and the amazing things that they do. We were told about how to become a Dementia Friend which you can read more about here. After this amazing talk, we bought some raffle tickets where all the money went to the Alzheimer's Society and we were unleashed on the stalls.

There was so much to choose from but I went straight to the Twig + Dot candles and Michael O'Mara Adult Colouring Books. I was SO happy to see the colouring books because I was actually asking for one for one of my stocking fillers for Christmas. The candles were absolutely lovely and I may have a basket waiting for me now, oops. We were treated to an Angelica nail polish and some got to try some gorgeous Posh Pickles & Reserves; the red onion was particularly delightful. Moving around we got to pick up some Virtue Ice Tea and VOSS water. Seriously, the Virtue Lemon Ice Tea is absolutely gorgeous and I'm in love.

One of the best bits of the event was the craft table that thisworks kindly donated. Me, Laura and Claudia had WAY too much fun at this table, mostly with PVA glue. I'm not a child, I promise, I've definitely 25 years old. There was so many different stands at the event and a really lovely pair were Holly Bower and Joyce Lee from Artsy Nibs. Holly brought her gorgeous handmade cards that were seriously beautiful and we were kindly gifted a deer Christmas card, and Joyce brought her amazing calligraphy skills to the table. She kindly gave her time to us and wrote our names in the most beautiful way, so so talented.

I think one of the most exciting stalls of the night was LookFantastic where we were amazingly gifted the No.1 Limited Edition Beauty Box. I am so happy because I was lusting after this so badly after Gemma from Miss Makeup Magpie's review. Full of amazing brands including Nuxe, Balance Me, Elemis and Murad I am so excited to get using all the products. I have also been gifted a second box to give away to my readers so make sure you scroll to the bottom of this post.

Seriously though, just look at this pile of goodies, we were treated so well, it's all a little be crazy. DermaV10 treated us crazy crazy well with around 6 full size products. The Sorbet Body Butter smells good enough to eat and the hand treatment is so lovely to use. The Stoats Oat Bar was absolutely delicious and kept me full for so long and I'm really excited to try the Manuka Doctor samples.
