The Hunger Games Trilogy Review

Seeing as it's World Book Day I was going to spend my day off in bed reading and finishing my current read but I'm currently recovering from an overnight shift and can barely stay awake. However, there will be something book related, so here we go. I wanted to review The Hunger Games because it's a series that I really enjoyed, reading all three in under a week. I'm sure you've all heard of Katniss Everdeen, the 16 year old heroine that shines as a beacon of defiance throughout this dystopian future. Set in Panam (which is clearly North America), Katniss has a pretty rough time of it in all honesty. From fighting in The Hunger Games, a live televised event where one boy and one girl from each district of Panam (there are 12 in all) are forced to fight to the death to be the only one to leave the arena, to becoming the symbol of a nationwide rebellion against the tyranny of the Capital. You are introduced to a wealth of characters that all play a big role to helping Katniss prove her capability and cement her as a strong female lead that will always be mentioned.

What I love about this series is that Katniss is strong character that is so easily relatable to, even in a world so completely alien. Suzanne Collins keeps you wanting more constantly and even in the end, you have that warm feeling like you've been told the complete story, and not left needing/wanting more. This may be classified as YA fiction, but I think everybody should give this a go, you won't be disappointed.
